Amanda was right in there amongst the TV news-makers today when a Sky TV News reporter popped along to her class at the Common Ground Cafe Bar, Wandsworth Common.  Sky News  were doing a ‘vox-pop’ piece with the Mums who attend Amanda’s classes there, seeking their views on the French Justice Minister 43-year-old, Rachida Dati who gave birth to a daughter Zohra, born prematurely last Friday by caesarian section 15 days ahead of her due date: by Wednesday she had checked herself out of hospital and attended the first cabinet meeting of the new year in a sleek black suit.

Anyways, various Mums aired their views to the Sky News reporter as to the sensibleness (or otherwise) of the French Justice Minister’s actions but unfortunately Amanda’s input didn’t make the final-cut of the report.  Yes, she was visible there in the background of the piece, in her so familiar Amanda uniform, leading the children – but her input never saw the light of day.

For those of you who wonder what she did say - Amanda merely pointed out that she herself was back in action leading her classes 2 weeks after the birth of her own daughter. Not quite as quick a return as Rachida – but not too far behind. Quel fromage!

Amanda is thrilled to be appearing in the Children’s Party Zone, supporting Yellow Umbrella Day this year – Chiswick’s largest annual charity festival that will take place this year on Sunday 21 September at Chiswick Park (opposite Gunnersbury station).

Apart from Amanda – this year’s festival will offer more entertainment than ever before: there will be live music running for most of the day, a circus skills workshop, pony rides, BBQ, face painters, street performers, Grand Prize Draw, bouncy castle, mask making, giant games, stalls, and much more… including a cake-bake contest for those who are that way inclined.  As always, the day will also feature a 10K run and 5K walk.

Is there parking available?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking in the business park itself.

Amanda’s Action Kids is one of 3 x local children’s businesses using the Children’s Party Zone space (the others being Chiswick Theatre Arts and Little Kickers) all sharing a marquee.

Amanda will be delivering her usual knockout, 20 minute action packed sessions for children aged 4 months – 5 years, with 2 separate sessions timed at:

  • 12noon to 12:20pm
  • 12:40pm to 1:00pm

It’s sure to be a great day out and Amanda’s really looking forward to seeing you all there – so get yourself down there!

Amanda has selected Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarves to complement her baby classes to support the Early Years Foundation Stage and build an enriching environment in which babies can learn by touching the scarves, playing with the chunky knots and satin tags. Baby’s fine motor skills get further enhanced by learning how to press the squeaker and turning on their own music – both are integrated in the famous Music Scarf. They are a fun way to learn from an early age onwards.

Today saw the start of Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarves at Amanda’s Action Kids Class in Wandsworth in the middle of the famous Nappy Valley. Parents and baby loved the products, babies didn’t want to stop playing. At the end parents held their babies in their arms and danced together. To allow their baby to shake a musical instrument it was attached to the scarf, which was great as nothing fell down on the floor anymore and babies could happily play along.

You can purchase a Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarf at any one of Amanda’s classes – just give your requirements to the class leader and they’ll do the rest for you.

Starting on Tuesday 9th September, Amanda is joining forces with those lovely people Lee and Lewin at  Coffee and Crayons in the Fulham Road to run one of her fantabulous toddler classes – in their basement play area.

About Coffee and Crayons
Coffee and Crayons is jointly owned and run by Elizabeth Goldschmied (known as Lee) and Lewin Chalkley. Parents can relax on sofas with their coffees, read the paper or meet with friends while the children are entertained with painting, colouring, books, toys and games. Coffee and Crayons is split over two floors - the cafe is on the ground floor and the play area is in the basement.

The cafe is open from 8:00am until 6:00pm every day (9:00am Saturdays and Sundays). The play area is open at the same times and supervised for activities from 9:30am until Close every day (10:00am at weekends). Sometimes there are things going on like Music classes, baby massage, fairy school and birthday parties – and from September they’ll have Amanda too! If the play area is closed for any reason you are still able to get toys, books and colouring items upstairs in the cafe.

Amanda\'s Action Kids classes for children Under 5 years, Clapham Common BandstandAmanda’s Action Kids classes for children Under 5 years will be starting at Clapham Common Bandstand, Windmill Drive, SW4 9DE on Friday 25th July (starts 25th July – ends 22nd Aug)

Amanda’s Action Kids classes for children Under 5 years:

Class Timings:
2:30pm – 3:00pm
3:15pm – 3:45pm
4:00pm – 4:30pm

Prices:
£6 for 1 child
£10 for 2 children

About Clapham Common and the Bandstand:
In the centre of the Clapham Common is the Clapham bandstand constructed in 1890. It is the largest bandstand in London and a Grade II Listed Building. In 2005-2006, a full restoration of the bandstand and surrounding landscape took place, partly funded by an £895,000 lottery grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund matched by local fundraising efforts and the proceeds of the Ben and Jerry’s Summer Sundae event held on Clapham Common.  In the summer, there always seems to be an ice cream van around, but failing that, there’s a small cafe/bar right in the centre of the common.

Parking:
Parking around Clapham Common is tough at the best of times – most of the roads are resident permits only, and the rest are red routes.

Transport:
Clapham Common tube station and Clapham South tube station are on the edge of the common.
