In September 2008, Amanda\'s Action Kids is joining forces with London\'s premier play space, Eddie Catz LtdIn September 2008, Amanda’s Action Kids is joining forces with London’s premier play space, Eddie Catz, to deliver Amanda’s high-energy physical activity classes for kids at the Eddie Catz branch at Putney.

One of the distinguishing characteristics of the Eddie Catz experience, is the safe, tailored environment on offer for young children to enjoy themselves. They offer healthy food options, using organic ingredients, and make sure that kids are being kept active with their on-site play equipment for children to run, jump, and slide on, thereby keeping the kids moving and using their minds and imagination.

Following on from Amanda’s successful 0-5 Alive! day at Fulham Football Club back in May of this year – Amanda has been invited back to help support the club’s Family Fun Day in nearby Bishop’s Park, with pre-match entertainment for the children of supporters prior to the Fulham v Bolton, Premier League clash on Saturday 13th September 2008 at Craven Cottage, Stevenage Road, London, SW6 6HH.

If you pop along to Bishop’s Park, right next to the football ground off Stevenage Road – Amanda will be doing 2 x half hour sessions, back-to-back, of her fun and fitness extravaganza,  starting at 12:45pm to 1:15pm and immediately following from 1:15pm to 1:45pm.  As always with Amanda, although her activity classes are targeted at toddlers and children 0-5 years old, older children and parents are welcome to join in the fun too.

The whole Family Fun Day event kicks off at 12:30, and apart from Amanda you’ll can find a concoction of fun free events such as face painting, balloon modelling and a magician. There will be inflatables and a chance for supporters to view some Fulham memorabilia. For more info check out  the Fulham F. C. website.

We can’t imagine that Amanda will be required to turn out for The Cottagers – but we certainly wish Roy and the lads well and hope that they get stuck into The Trotters and come away with a win!

Amanda has selected Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarves to complement her baby classes to support the Early Years Foundation Stage and build an enriching environment in which babies can learn by touching the scarves, playing with the chunky knots and satin tags. Baby’s fine motor skills get further enhanced by learning how to press the squeaker and turning on their own music – both are integrated in the famous Music Scarf. They are a fun way to learn from an early age onwards.

Today saw the start of Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarves at Amanda’s Action Kids Class in Wandsworth in the middle of the famous Nappy Valley. Parents and baby loved the products, babies didn’t want to stop playing. At the end parents held their babies in their arms and danced together. To allow their baby to shake a musical instrument it was attached to the scarf, which was great as nothing fell down on the floor anymore and babies could happily play along.

You can purchase a Yes! SuperBaby’s Music Scarf at any one of Amanda’s classes – just give your requirements to the class leader and they’ll do the rest for you.

About Clapham Common and the Bandstand:
In the centre of the Clapham Common is the Clapham bandstand constructed in 1890. It is the largest bandstand in London and a Grade II Listed Building. In 2005-2006, a full restoration of the bandstand and surrounding landscape took place, partly funded by an £895,000 lottery grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund matched by local fundraising efforts and the proceeds of the Ben and Jerry’s Summer Sundae event held on Clapham Common.  In the summer, there always seems to be an ice cream van around, but failing that, there’s a small cafe/bar right in the centre of the common.

Parking:
Parking around Clapham Common is tough at the best of times – most of the roads are resident permits only, and the rest are red routes.

Transport:
Clapham Common tube station and Clapham South tube station are on the edge of the common.

Age 4 months to 5 years but parents are welcome to join in. There’s a cafe and farmers’ market nearby for replacing energy burned off.

Amanda at the Paddling Pool, Dukes Meadows, Off Alexandra Gardens, London, W4 2RXThe creation of the pool is the culmination of 6 years work by the local community through the Friends of Duke’s Meadows. The £380,000 cost of the project was funded through the Friends social enterprises such as the Sunday Farmers & Fine Foods Market and grants from the London Marathon Trust, Living Spaces, Garfield Weston Foundation, Brett Trust and Hounslow Council. Stanhope PLC donated trees and shrubs to landscape the area.

Duke’s Meadows Trust have established a regular farmers’ market in the yard in front of the Masonian Bowls Club on Duke’s Meadow. This is a particularly apt place for such a market since the building used to be the stores for the market gardens that once thrived in the area. It provides a regular stream of revenue, opening up a range of new possibilities for the charity to improve the Meadows.

The market is held on Sundays from 10am to 2pm and can be reached from the path beside Cavendish School or from Edensor Road through Promenade Approach.

Travelling by Public Transport?

  1. Nearest Tube Station: Turnham Green.
  2. From Chiswick High Road: take the E3 bus to Edensor Road and use the Promenade Approach Road entrance.
  3. From Hammersmith or Richmond: take the 190 bus and get off at the nearest stop to Edensor Road.
  4. By main line train (South West Trains): use either Chiswick or Barnes Bridge Stations. From Chiswick Station take the short journey by E3 bus: or from Barnes Bridge, cross the river and take the tow-path to Hammersmith past the Bandstand to an open stretch of park-land where you’ll find the sign directing you to the water play area.

Enjoy your time in Duke’s Meadow with Amanda – she’s ‘brill’ and whatsmore …it’s absolutely FREE!  Hope the weather’s nice!

Often, people who know Amanda, wonder how she manages to keep all those ‘balls in the air’ at the same time.  Andif you have a look at Amanda’s classes timetable you’ll see that there are at least 16 different classes going on each week – as well as the children’s parties throughout the London area.  As you can imagine, that requires a small corps of part-time dedicated ‘helpers’ to keep the Amanda show on the road, day by day, and to help her cope with any unforeseen eventualities – you know, like sickness, holidays and ‘real-life’ things like that!

Well Amanda’s now at the point where she’s looking to add to her pool of talented part-time helpers in and around London.  So if you’ve ever been to an Amanda class or an Amanda party and thought, “that looks fun” why not consider whether it’s something you’d like to get involved in?

Typically, you’d need to be able to fill-in on an ad hoc basis for some of Amanda’s classes and /or parties, to cover both planned and unplanned absences and also you’d need :

  • self-employed status
  • a driving licence and ready access to your own vehicle
  • some free-time in the mornings during school time (for classes support)
  • some free-time at weekends (for party support)
  • an interest and aptitude for children’s activities and entertaining
  • a very flexible approach to being called in at short notice (sometimes)

If you think this is something you might be interested in (on an ad hoc, part-time basis) why not give Amanda a call on 07946 707 695.
